Weekenders

Hello www!
First of all, thank you all so much for your feedback on yesterday's post!
I loved reading your comments, stories, and advice!  I'll try to get around responding to your e-mails tonight, but if I get a bit distracted with some baby snuggles I'm sure you'll understand. ;o)

Speaking of that little gal, as of yesterday she is a a big two weeks old!
That's half a month!  Seriously, time is going by too fast! In fact, the other day I may have gotten weepy telling Ben that we needed to invest in a better camera because these moments are flying by too fast and she'll never be this small or doing these things again.  He got a pretty good laugh out of my pathetic tears (oh, and we're totally taking camera recommendations).

Anyway, McCartney is still the best baby ever.
She is so pleasant and snuggly.  Seriously, what was life like before her?
Anyway, she's become a little brave thing and doesn't cry anymore during her diaper changes.  Her first bath was a waaah-fest, but every single one since then and she just chills like she's at the spa.
We did have our first major blowout that was deemed extra-bath-worthy.
Which reminds me...how does one get breastfed poop out of light colored carpet?
Our girl has quite the pooper shooter (sorry if you're reading this in the future Big Mac) and our pet spot eliminator from when Trudy was a puppy just didn't cut it.  Speaking of Trudes, thankfully this time she wasn't in the smelly path of the projectile doo-doo.  I think she learned her lesson after last week.
Yesterday she was fussy for the first time which we blamed on gas.  Looks like the four glasses of milk I had from the day before are going to have to be a no-go in the future.
As for sleep, she's been doing great (knock knock knock on wood)!  She usually wakes up to eat around 10:30pm, 1:00am, and 4:00am.  She'll chow down for 30 to 45 minutes, I change her diaper, and then she goes back to sleep.  Lately she's been a lot more alert during the day so we feel like her nights and days are finally starting to switch.
That doesn't mean that she doesn't totally zonk out during the day though...
Looks like our Trudes is pretty tired too.  She gets up and sits by me during every late night feeding.  I don't think she's used to the lack of sleep :o)

McCartney, Trudy, and I also survived our first weekend with Ben having a 24-hour call shift on Saturday.  We had a little dance party, napped a ton, and sent Ben about one-gazillion photos and videos.  I'm sure he's running out of memory already on his new phone.

Then on Sunday, Ben spent his post-call afternoon pounding out a huge presentation that he has to do today.  Since we don't have cable we missed the big game, but the Internet kept us in the loop.
Random PSA:
Just because you exclaim something in your living room while watching a sporting event does not mean that you have to share it on Facebook.
If you can't resist, just get Twitter.

Okay, Random PSA over.

Anyway, thank goodness for YouTube because we were able to watch the half-time show minutes after it was done.  I'm gonna side in with the masses and say that was one of the best half-time shows in ages.  The last good one I remember was Prince.  Beyonce though...that girl is fierce.
Which brings me to this little link that made me laugh pretty hard.  I told Ben that I want to have an excuse to walk like she does in #2.  He said, "you mean stomping?"  That's not stomping, honey.  That's walking with a purpose.

Anyway, we're excited for Ben to get home tonight.  His presentation will be done so it means that he can finally join us back on the couch for some quality R&R.  Plus, we have leftover pot roast and mashed potatoes which means roast beef sandwiches for dinner!  And let's not forget what we have been waiting for since last Monday?
She's only two weeks old and she already agrees that Tierra is just Tierrable!

Anyway, see you tomorrow!

  2. Impressed that she no longer cries during diaper changes, Caitlin still does. BTW if it is a rug that you can take outside ~ get it wet and than put in direct sunlight, newborn stool has a lot of bilirubin in it and the sunlight will bleach it right out (works great with clothes, might be worth a try with textiles).

And I feel ya regarding camera issues, the flash is broken on ours so most of our picture taking is now on our iPhones, easy but not the best quality.

  3. I saw the title of this post and got really excited thinking about the weekend...and then remembered it's only Tuesday. My mind is gone.

Your sweet girl is so beautiful. Congrats a million times over.
I agree about Tierra too! What a smart daughter you have ;)

  4. Hello-I found your blog from reading Camp Patton :) Your little girl is just too adorable! My tip for the carpet issue is to invest in a big ol' bucket of oxiclean (if you haven't already). I don't even know how many I have gone through in the 8 months our little man has been here! It also saved soo many of his clothes. I've found the generic "Sun Oxi-active" works just as well too! Hope it works for you!
