I can't believe that as of yesterday our little gal is one month old. I'm going to avoid typing too much about how becoming a mom is the best thing that ever happened to me and how she is already growing up too fast because I'll just end up a weepy mess.
Instead, here is a one month update of our favorite little gal...
:: She's a generally happy baby When she is awake she loves (and requires) constant attention. She wants you to be talking to her and to be facing you. She also loves listening to music and being sang to. Don't worry, I'm already introducing her to a wide variety of Broadway show tunes and Disney songs so we can check that of the list.

:: She is usually a great sleeper (knock on wood!). She falls asleep around midnight (which is fine cause we tend to stay up until around 11:30). Then she wakes up at 4:00am, 7:00am, and 9:00am. She'll eat for about 15 minutes each time she wakes up and then will zonk back out. Occasionally she'll have her nights where she just wants to sit and stare at each other. My parents got a big kick out of that because apparently when I was a wee little thing I used to do that to my mom all the time.
:: She is getting to the point where her newborn clothes and diapers are starting to get a bit snug. We'll attribute that to the fact that she is a little chowhound.
:: She is still a pooper shooter. Seriously, diaper changing is dangerous business!
:: She is really strong. We, along with the doctors, noticed that from the minute she was born. Since day one she has been able to life her head up. Now she does it and can hold it for long periods of time. She'll adjust her arms to try to push up and push her little legs like she wants to crawl. We're not exaggerating...she's like the Hercules of babies. Plus, her grip is out of this world. Future Olympic athlete? Who knows!
:: She is a big mama's girl. The other day I ran to Target while Ben was watching her. I called him on the way home and she was wailing. I jokingly told him to put the phone up to her ear. He turned it on speaker phone and I began talking to her and immediately she quieted down and stopped crying. It was awesome. Let's just say my heart grew ten sizes that day.
:: We can't quite nail down who she looks like. Right now we think that she is going to be a blend of the two of us.
:: She loves her baths and just chills when we put her in her little hammock.
:: However, she does not like having her clothes changed.
:: When Ben holds her she turns into this little caterpillar like ball. It's adorable. When I hold her she likes to sprawl out.
:: She is not a fan of being buckled into her carseat and will let out a nice wail. But the second you pick it up she is fine. Drama queen. ;o)
:: I've caught her dreaming of what I am sure is my boobs. She'll make little sucking movements, stick out her tongue, and then let out the biggest smile. Ahhh, milk dreams!
:: Ben swears that she will be able to walk in a month because she is able to stand on her own with our help balancing her. (Ussssssually this is gas related, but still!)
:: She is literally the best baby ever. Not a biased opinion. Total fact.
Anyway, it goes without a doubt that this past month has been the greatest month of our lives.
Everyday McCartney makes us smile and laugh and we can't thank God enough for bringing her into our little world. We love watching her grow and at the same moment we wish that time would slow down. It's already flying by way too fast! So, we're just trying to soak up every little moment with our sweet little gal. Which reminds me, it's time to get back to snuggling!
Over and Out,

PS - I promise to have the birth story up next week. It's alllllllmost done :o)
She is such a beautiful baby. I can tell she's loved, it just shows!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it crazy how much a baby changes everything and at the same time is the best thing that ever happened? She sounds like an angel.
ReplyDeleteLove the descriptions and of course the pictures!
