7 Quick Takes

It's already Friday again?
Well you know what we do on Fridays! Time to join up once again with Jen and the rest of her crew for 7 Quick Takes.
Here we go...

1.  Between my 10 Favorite Things and Must-Haves (Newborn Edition) post, my dish on life in residency with a baby, and several mentions of poop, I think that I have officially crossed over into Mommy Blogger territory.
That's fine by me though! I feel like shouting it from the rooftops - being a mom is the best thing in the world!  In fact, I told Ben the other day that I finally feel like I have found my true purpose in the world and he couldn't agree more.  Taking care of McCartney and watching her grow is my world now and I l-o-v-e it.

2.  Speaking of that hubby of mine, Ben has this entire weekend off and we have absolutely.no.plans...it's awesome!  I'm thinking lots of Mario Kart, some Redbox movies (any recommendations?), and extra snuggle time with our little gal sound like the perfect way to fill our schedule.

3.  I know that you're all curious about our other baby - the furry one.  She is still holding true to her new title of Nurse Trudy.  It's pretty darn sweet.  She always makes sure to periodically check on McCartney when she's in her swing and doesn't leave her side while I get ready in the morning.  She takes her job as big sister pretty serious.

4.  With breastfeeding and being in charge of another little life, I've started to become a bit more health conscious about what we put into our mouths at the Jordan household.  Lately I've been learning a lot about food (things I never even considered considering) through my friend Trisha's blog, Midwest Epicurean.  Give it a nice click and you'll learn something new - I promise.  Her post on cooking oils alone turned my world upside down.
I'm also taking recommendations for healthy, breastfeeding approved recipes.  Send them my way ladies!

5.  The other night Ben gave me a 45-minute foot rub.  I'm still thinking about it.

6.  This take is kind of hard to write about, but I believe in the power of prayer so I'm going to go ahead and put it out there.  You might recall last week when I asked for your prayers for my aunt and my family.  Well, this week we found out that she has been diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer.  On Wednesday my cousin Michael had her flown to Mayo where they'll figure everything out from there.  Several surgeries and chemo are in her future, so it's a pretty scary time for everyone.  It's definitely times like this that I wonder what our lives would be like without God in them.  I feel so blessed that my family has faith in Him.  It helps keep us strong.  So, please continue to keep her and the rest of my family in your prayers.  My mom is taking this news especially hard.
My Uncle Dicky Doo, my mom, my Aunt Marilyn Jo, and my Uncle Bob from this summer.

7.  And because I don't want to end this post on a sad note, here is a sweet little video to brighten your day...

Have a great day everyone! And be sure to check out the rest of the takes when you get a chance!

  2. Continued prayers for your Aunt Marilyn. My husband's aunt was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer like 20 years ago. They gave her 6 months to live. She's still alive, kickin', and full of spunk. I pray your aunt has a similar experience.

PLEASE post links or recipes for any healthy recipes you try and like. I'm always looking for healthy recipes to try.

    2. That video of McCartney is precious.
    3. I love all the pictures of Trudes and McCartney. Are you having any newborn photos professionally taken? If so will Trudy be in them? I love dog and baby photos :)

That video is beyond precious. What a sweetheart!
And I must have a golden. Yes. Must. Trudy is such a doll!
And I know exactly what you mean! As soon as I had Boston I knew being mom was what I was meant to do. I love it! Even when it's hard, it's hard in a good, worth every tear sort of way.

  7. I'm sure everyone has a story or something to "compare" ... I don't want to be annoying, but my husbands Aunt was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer, pretty aggressive as well (I believe it developed from nothing in about 6 months) about 20 months ago. She had a double masectomy and all of her treatments, etc ... she's doing awesome now. Obviously they say you're not "out of the woods" or "in the clear" for 5 years, but I think it's amazing how well her body has done! One thing about prayer and having people lift you or your loved one up, is that it really offers them positivity and encouragement as well, and that's always a good thing for our health :) We'll be praying for y'all!
