Resolutions

I don't think that anyone on the Internet is posting about New Year's or their resolutions, so I thought I'd just go ahead and fill that empty hole for your reading pleasure. ;o)

Anyway, as I mentioned the the other day, 2012 was pretty darn amazing.  Like humbly amazing.  When I look back on it I feel like it was filled with blessing after blessing which in a way can be kind of scary.  Every year won't always be like that of course and as exciting as the beginning new year can be, they have always made me nervous.

Last year I made the resolution that I really liked - I wanted to put everything in God's hands and go from there.
Let me tell you something, when you do that it is soo liberating!
Is it easy? Heck no.
And I definitely wasn't always great about it.  I can be a bit of an OCD control freak and sometimes I wanted to do things my own way, but when I gave it up to God it suddenly became easy.

It is definitely something I have no mastered, so this year my main resolution is the same as last year...
I want to continue to give my worries to Him and to trust in His plan.
If I do that, then I think that we can handle no matter what comes in 2013.

I've also got other little resolutions that are more like little goals for 2013...
  • One is to start writing my dad letters again.  He's always been hard of hearing so he can't really carry on a conversation that well over the phone.  In college, when I lived far away we would write each other little letters full of random tidbits and stories, the same everyday nonsense that I share with my mom when I talk to her on the phone.  I love those letters and I still have them.  Lately, I've sent him and my mom a few cards with letters in them for the holidays and his birthday and my Dad just loves them, so I figured it'd be something fun to start up again.
  • I also want to do more random sweet things for Ben.  More out of the blue treats and such.  He works so hard for our little family and I want to do more to let him know just how much he is appreciated.  Whether it be surprising him with a bottle of his favorite rum or an extra long back-rub, I want to do more to show him just how much he means to us.
  • I want to get in shape again after the baby is here.  This baby has been really good to me and I haven't ballooned up near as much as I anticipated.  So, I want to kick my butt into gear as soon as it's allowed and spend a little bit of time everyday getting back into shape.  I've got my Moms Into Fitness DVD ready to go!
  • I'd like to knock out some projects that I have had around the house since oh, you know, we moved in over a year and a half ago.  Things like finally getting something hung on that huge wall above the couch, going through all of the boxes of clothes that we never wear and donating them, clearing out the other boxes of clutter that are piled along the sides of the laundry room and either selling the crap that is in them or giving it away.  Basically, decluttering and simplifying.  I might even play along with some of the organization challenges going on like this one and this one.  I don't want those boxes of "stuff" to follow us when we move again in a few years so I think that now is the time to do it.
  • Lastly, as I mentioned a few weeks ago, I'd like to develop and stick to more of a daily routine.  I'm an organized person, but not a person of habit and with our little gal about to make her debut any day now think that a daily routine will help keep the house clean and a home-cooked meal on the table.  I don't expect myself to be perfect about it, but I've definitely gotta try.

So, there you have it..
My resolutions and goals for 2013.
Here's to sticking to them the best I can!
What about you?  What are your resolutions and goals for 2013?

Happy New Year's Everyone!
